Cerused White Oak Flooring
I don t think it s hit this area yet so my floor guy might not have done it before and we don t share the same primary language.

Wire brushed hardwood is a minor form of distressing but does depend on the depth of the brushing. I m worried he might say yes simply to be agreeable when he doesn t. Next the off white undertones are applied that fills in the deeper brushed areas. A brass bristle type will not scratch the wood too much.
If you want to preserve the background color of the wood and have the white only in the grain it requires a different technique than simply using a white pickle stain. Cerused oak is staging a comeback and i couldn t be more excited. Now cerused wood can be found with all shades and colors of stain. The type of wood used for this technique is usually oak but other types of porous wood can be used.
Work with the grain not against it. Use a wire brush to open up the grain. Get authentic hardwood in places where it couldn t be enjoyed before. The process involves three steps where wire brushing takes place that removes the springwood of white oak.
Board edges along the long side can also create splintering after the installation. Cerused wood is also known as cerused oak or limed oak because it s often found on this species of wood. When quarter sawn oak is cerused we are able to add a white glaze and use a special brush to make sure the glaze seeps into the grain without affecting the color of the stain thus giving texture to the surface of the wood. A second pass is run where the chosen color.
Dramatic flecking is also present in red oak and white oak. It can be used in any room in the house including kitchens mudrooms full bathrooms or basements.
